Bra-vo intimates is not your ordinary bra shop. Rebecca Aughton, the owner, envisioned a bra store that would be the best and most unique in metro Detroit and in the United States. Rebecca had already spent years studying under the best people in the bra industry in New York City and in Europe. She had years of retail experience at high-end shops in Washington, D.C., New York and London. She visited many specialty bra shops and the lingerie departments of major department stores throughout the US and Europe. Rebecca knew what was needed for the perfect bra shop and what women wanted when shopping for bras.

On September 14, 2001, after many years of education and training and much study of the industry and consideration of the bra-fitting needs of women of all shapes and sizes, Rebecca opened Bra-vo intimates at 414 South Washington Avenue in Royal Oak Michigan, a suburb of Detroit known for its diversity, fashion sense and cutting-edge culture.

From its opening, Bra-vo intimates has specialized in custom fitting of everyday bras, sports bras, maternity bras, and special needs/post surgery bras. Rebecca and her staff pride themselves on providing exceptional services to their clients; their mission is much more than just “selling bras.” The proper fitting is of the highest importance when purchasing bras, and Bra-vo intimates specializes in bra-fitting services.

In March 2002, Bra-vo intimates opened the first Anita in-store boutique in the entire United States featuring the Anita product line from Germany. The Anita line is known for comfort in its bras for the full-figured woman, as well as nursing bras and post-mastectomy bras.

Rebecca knew that Bra-vo intimates was a very special place for women to shop for the perfect bra, and in May 2002, just eight months after opening, Metro Detroit knew it too. Bra-vo intimates won the Detroit Free Press “Best of Detroit” Award for its category. The “Best of Detroit” Award covers several different shopping and lifestyle categories voted on by the public. Intima Magazine, an industry publication, conferred the “Top Fitting Shop in the United States” Award to Bra-vo Intimates in August 2002; the shop had been open less than a year.

Women who have had mastectomies desire and deserve special attention and understanding, and Bra-vo intimates knows that. The shop has certified mastectomy fitters on staff and opened its post-surgery salon in March 2003.

There are many phases in a woman’s life, and Jeunique bras and natal and post-natal bras and undergarments offer women products for every phase and stage, size, shape, and age. Jeunique requires that all fitters be company trained and certified. The staff at Bra-vo intimates was trained and certified and began carrying the Jeunique line on September of 2003. Certified Jeunique fitters are available in the shop by appointment.

In July 2004, Bra-vo intimates moved to its current location at 515 South Washington Avenue in Royal Oak Michigan.

Who says bras can’t be fun? In May 2007, Bra-vo intimates held its first annual T-shirt Bra Fitting event showcasing the latest and largest t-shirt bra collection anywhere. This annual event to kick off summer is not to be missed.

In August 2007, Bra-vo intimates was honored with a 2nd place finish for “Best of Detroit” from WDIV-TV.

Bra-vo intimates realizes that many women are returning to the natural and best way to feed newborns and babies: breastfeeding. Rebecca and the staff at the shop also know that women need information on how to breastfeed and need to be fitted with the best and most supportive nursing bras for them. In November, 2007, Bra-vo Intimates opened its Nursing Salon, staffed with certified maternity and nursing bra fitters. These fitters are available to help you with a bra and correct operation of the Medela breast pumps.

In August 2008, Bra-vo intimates won the 1st Place for “Best of Detroit” from WDIV-TV, voted on by the public.

If bra fitting can be fun, then swimwear fitting can really be fun! Bra-vo Intimates held its first annual swimwear trunk show in September 2008 offering its clients the best swimwear available in the United States.
